Ethnicity (Crime)

Ethnicity refers to an identity based on belonging to a group defined by common cultural or national traditions. It is considered a more useful concept than race. In relation to crime and deviance, sociologists are interested in the apparently significant differential incidence of criminality and victimhood among the various ethnicities. Sociologists consider both why this might be and also why statistics that show this might be misleading (for example the product of discriminatory policing).
