The following article examines the governments and police’s response to its ‘war on gangs’.

The police have compiled a gang violence matrix (Metropolitan police) to help identify gang members. However the strategy has been criticised for ignoring the underlying causes of violent crime.

A useful article for the Crime and Deviance unit looking at a number of different aspects, including: discrimination, racism and official crime statistics.
