I spy: are smart doorbells creating a global surveillance network?

This article examines the rise of video doorbells that can be installed on the doors of homes.
Companies that manufacture these doorbells can provide notifications to apps on phones about whether packages have been delivered, and have also have had the effect of helping to identify wanted criminals for the police.
There are also questions about the data that is gathered with these devices and whether information collected by the companies that produce the doorbells and the (such as Amazon and Google) will be harvested for other purposes.
