This editable and downloadable powerpoint covers the measurement of unemployment.
To an economist, unemployment is the state of being without a job when one is actively searching for work. It's a big deal in economics because it's one of the primary indicators of the health of an economy. When unemployment is high, it can indicate that the economy is struggling, while low unemployment can be a sign of economic growth and prosperity. Economists use various measures to track unemployment, such as the unemployment rate, which is the percentage of the labour force that is unemployed.
