Environmental Economics - Tesla co-founder has plan to recycle EV batteries
15th September 2021
This FT clip looks at how a Tesla founder, JB Straubel, has moved into an unusual market - recycling lithium batteries.
This is perhaps in the belief that he can build new electric car batteries out of recycled rather than newly-mined lithium.
This requires recycling used batteries for consumer goods, and creating new materials capable of being used in batteries. It's a fascinating area of technology, not least because of the rate at which we are starting to shift towards electric vehicles.
