Circular economy - IKEA to buy back unwanted furniture
14th October 2020
Ikea is continuing to emphasise its commitment to sustainability by taking back unwanted furniture and selling it second hand to consumers. Anything left unsold will be recycled.
The company has a commitment to creating a circular business model and a 2030 target to be carbon neutral. Both are indicative of a commitment to corporate social responsibility, and good for the company's brand image.
The Buy Back initiative will be launched in Ikea stores across the UK on 27 November.
The company has announced that anything that cannot be resold will be recycled or donated to charities.
Not just some sensible CSR (encouraging sustainability). Also very smart marketing - offering a discount (%off) voucher which Ikea's loyal customers will take straight into the store! https://t.co/fUjzAy1pmx
