Amazon invests in Deliveroo
19th May 2019
An interesting tech joint venture. Amazon has invested in Deliveroo - looking to support the food courier.
There are lots of ways of looking at this: it gives Amazon access to a market that it has struggled to enter and a well-designed, successful tech platform. From Deliveroo's perspective, it gives the business much needed cash. However, does it also signal the beginning of the end for the latter, with Amazon preparing to move into the sector? Certainly, Amazon has a history of being acquisitive in this sort of fashion.
