Video: Are Children Taking Over?
23rd February 2017
This short clip from a BBC documentary entitled ‘The British Family’ could act as a great introduction to one of the key areas in the AQA Sociology specification, which focuses on the changing status of children.
Following this video, students could be asked about their own households and how they experience family life. For example, do they recognise any of the images from the video?
Students could also be asked to follow this at home by completing a survey with their own parents and even grandparents to find out about their childhoods.
There are some good opportunities available with this for students to design a social survey such as a questionnaire or interview and consider its structure and the type of questions that should be used.
