Gender Specific Toys

Many sociologists argue that gender stereotypes develop from a young age, starting with the toys that they are given to play with. The following BBC video turns this idea on its head and illustrates how easily adults actively reinforce these gender stereotypes.
This video could be used in an introductory session to Sociology, where students discuss their own understanding of gender stereotypes and where these come from (particularly if they have younger siblings):
