Three Degree World

Sarah Best

29th January 2019

In this second article for the Global Development unit, it focuses on the effect of potential sea level rises on cities around the world.

The Paris climate agreement attempted to limit global warming to 2C above pre-industrial levels. However, more recent research suggests that this may not be enough to prevent some cities being affected in the near-term, and experiencing more severe consequences in the future.

One of the insights from this article is that many Asian cities such as Osaka, Japan will be the worse affected. One explanation for this is the high density of people living in the region.
