'Population Bomb'
22nd March 2019
This short video from The New York Times is about population control.
In the 1960s, concerns about overpopulation went ‘viral’ in a historical sense through the traditional news media with concerns about a ‘population bomb’.
With the benefit of hindsight it is fascinating to view some of the footage included in the video and compare this to viewpoints about population control espoused in contemporary society.
The video could be used when discussing demography (population), The Media (moral panic) and Families and Households (birth rates/death rates) amongst other areas.
