Zuckerberg for President?
30th November 2017
Some social commentators argue that with an increasingly complex and globalised world, traditional notions of roles and status have changed not just within the family and the workplace but also within other areas like politics.
The following video follows Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of Facebook on a campaign trail of sorts where he visits a number of US states that he had never visited before. Although any political ambitions are rejected pretty early on by his team, the video could be useful in a discussion about the role and power of social media in contemporary society.
Further discussion could include an analysis of the influence of the mass media generally and whether in a postmodern society we are more likely to look to celebrities as role models and why (particularly instead of politicians).
