Women's careers will suffer most if UK childcare sector collapses, say experts

A report from the Sutton Trust has found that one in three nurseries could be forced out of business as a result of the coronavirus.

The closure of early learning providers would be the most damaging for children from poorer families, and that women are at most risk from losing their jobs.

This article could be used for the Families and Households unit (childhood, gender roles, domestic labour), and Work, Poverty and Welfare (the distribution of poverty, wealth and income between different social groups).
