Plastic Waste Disposal

18th October 2018

The following article examines the movement of plastic waste from the USA.

China banned the import on a large proportion of plastic waste earlier this year and this has meant that countries like the US have had to find alternative ways to deal with their waste.

Nearly half of the plastic waste was sent to countries such as Thailand and Vietnam for the first part of 2018. Campaigners such as Greenpeace argue that the US are exploiting poorer countries by doing this, and instead the US should be reducing their reliance on plastic or invest in recycling facilities in the US itself.
