The following video is an interview by The Economist of Tara Westover, the author of a book called Educated.

The book itself is a fantastic memoir chronicling Tara's life as she navigated living in a strict Mormon family, and had her first taste of 'formal' education at age 17.

Students could be set the book to read as holiday homework or as an extension task as part of a sociology book club. As well as links to Families and Households, Education and Beliefs in Society, the book also considers the role of these institutions in terms of being agents of primary and secondary socialisation.
