This revision video looks at the definition and measurement of consumer price inflation in the UK economy
CPI and RPI Inflation
CPI is a price index that measures the price changes in a basket of goods that a consumer faces. RPI is a price index that uses the same principles as CPI but, ultimately, uses a different basket of goods/services to measure inflation and the average is calculated in a different way.
