Play the World Economy Higher or Lower Game - Perfect for Returning Yr13 Econ Students

31st August 2017
Here's a activity that you may like to use for returning students over the coming weeks. It uses our ever-popular 'Higher or Lower' Powerpoint format to test student knowledge on world economic data.
The activity includes statistics on 37 developed and developing nations and tests knowledge on GDP growth, unemployment, current account balance, inflation and Government debt. All statistics are the IMF forecasts for 2017 and more information on the units used are included on the resource.
Students (in teams) are given a category (e.g. unemployment rate) and then an initial country and statistic (e.g. UK, 4.9). They are then given the name of a second country and the team must decide whether that country's statistic is higher or lower than the first country. This lasts for four different countries and the team scores points if they get the answers correct.
Hat tip to Ruth Tarrant for suggesting an update of this resource.
