Sustainable Growth - The Cumbrian Coal Controversy

Cumbria Council have approved a plan to sink a new coal mine under the Irish Sea, and it's not been well received.
The government haven't yet interceded, but there are calls for it to do so, on the grounds that it doesn't match up with the government's promise to move away from coal.
It's clear that this decision may not be final, and it flags up the difficulties of policymaking, when you have made commitments to reduce the negative externalities associated with fossil fuel consumption, but at the same time being committed to levelling up.
