Ben Chu reports for Newsnight on the risks of a global economic recession with a follow up discussion with Professor Joseph Stiglitz.

Escalating trade tensions, softening growth in China and rising policy and political uncertainty in Europe are just some of the fragilities. The inverted yield curve makes an appearance.

Do policy-makers have the monetary and fiscal policy tools to help prevent a broader downturn as the downside risks appear to magnify?
