Try this mini personal finance simulation activity to help deliver the CambridgeOCR Level 3 Award in Personal Finance.

Gross to Net is a free interactive simulation that finally makes a payslip make sense. Students pick a salary, then click through each deduction in turn, income tax, National Insurance, student loan and pension, and watch the running total shrink from gross pay to real take-home pay. The gap surprises almost everyone, and it grows as pay rises, so a pay rise adds less than you might think. It takes about five minutes, runs on any device, and turns an abstract number into a concrete monthly reality. Perfect as a lesson starter, or a quick eye-opener for anyone about to receive their first payslip.
