Is there a gap in China's Instant noodle market?

Penny Brooks

20th December 2017

China is the biggest market for sales of instant noodles - according to the World Instant Noodle Association (which is a real thing!) sales there are more than three times the next nearest market in Indonesia. So manufacturers of convenience foods are going to target the market.

But with sales of instant noodles actually declining in China this year, and being 17% lower than they were in 2013, there is an opportunity for other foods to enter the market. Read through this article looking at possible reasons for the falling popularity of instant noodles, and this one which gives 'Five charts about the fortunes of the Chinese family', to see if you can devise a product that will suit the way that the market is changing. The potential rewards are enormous - filling this gap in the market could be very satisfying!
