The ins and outs of home-schooling

It's estimated that around 50,000 children are homeschooled in the UK - a good number will return to mainstream education in schools, but many teachers and education professionals have little understanding of the nature of homeschooling, and whether children will need additional support if they enter a more conventional school environment. I really like the Guardian's collation of articles and analysis on all sorts of homeschooling issues - you can access it here. This article in particular summarises the legal position of children and parents involved in homeschooling.
