Ideology (Beliefs)

Ideology is a set of beliefs that favours the interests of a group. There is a multitude of sociological perspectives on ideology and the impact it has on society. Many sociological perspectives that agree there is a main belief system that operates in society but they disagree about which powerful groups influence the belief system. For example; Marxists believe that the powerful group is the bourgeoisie (ruling class) and belief systems are dominated by this ruling-class ideology.
