Marketisation | Topics | tutor2u Politics

Marketisation involves the use of market forces and market principles within the welfare state. As the term suggests, marketisation takes the private sector as its model. Marketisation owes its ideological basis to the New Right. Opponents of marketisation claim that it represents the ‘privatisation’ of public services, whereas supporters claim that market-based reforms result in efficiency gains and a greater level of personal choice.
