Blockbusters! An interactive resource on Elections

8th January 2016
Okay, here's a game format many of your students won't have seen before - Blockbusters! However, it's your chance to be 'Bob' and run a quick game of Blockbusters with your students.
The format is simple. 20 hexagons on the screen with a letter or letters in the middle. You click on the hexagon to reveal the question and the students answer using the original letter(s) as a clue. You may want to have a think about how you run this in your class - the original version required three contestants - 2 acting as a pair and the other acting as an individual. The idea was meant to prove that 'two heads are better than one' but I never saw any stats to prove this one! The team of 2 are attempting to form a horizontal line of blue hexagons (5 required to win) and the individual is attempting to form a vertical white line (4 required to win). You don't have to run it like that - you can run it as a two team game and see which team can get the most correct answers.
The questions are all on 'elections' so here's a chance to revise some of those key terms used in the topic.
