This teaching powerpoint covers public goods, quasi public goods and private goods along with the free rider problem.
There are three main features of public goods. First, as we've discussed, public goods are non-excludable, meaning it's difficult or impossible to prevent people from enjoying the benefits of the good. Second, public goods are non-rivalrous, meaning that one person's consumption of the good doesn't diminish its availability for others. Finally, public goods are typically provided by the government or other public entities, rather than by private businesses. This is because private businesses aren't motivated to provide public goods since it's difficult to capture the benefit of them through private transactions.
