Where do wind turbine blades go to die?
11th February 2020
It sounds like the build-up to the sort of very poor joke only economists could love: where do wind turbine blades go to die?
The answer is unexpected: many of them are currently buried in landfill sites because they're not very easy to recycle. As a result, the sector is trying to find ways of recycling and reusing them, in playgrounds for instance.
However, it's a lovely article because it pursues something that's ostensibly environmentally-friendly until the very end of its useful life, and discovers that at this point it actually isn't environmentally-friendly at all.
