UK government may launch fuel price comparison website

13th October 2022
If you provide better information, then markets operate more efficiently. This is what economic theory would suggest, and it seems that the operation of the petrol market in Northern Ireland has suggested that the provision of a fuel price comparison site has meant that petrol prices in the province have been more competitive than they would otherwise have been.
As a result, the Transport Minister, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, is considering adopt a similar scheme on the mainland, and the Competition and Markets Authority's review of the market seems to support such an idea.
