TTI-P in Deep Trouble?
30th August 2016
It seems that the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is struggling to be concluded with Francois Hollande and others, notably the German economy minister, Sigmar Gabriel, suggesting that the deal isn't going to be finalised by the time Barack Obama steps down.
This will get a mixed response: there are clearly gains from freer trade, but critics of TTIP will be delighted. The sticking point? The US is being criticised but the Italian government are still confident that the deal is going to be completed albeit taking a bit longer.
