I'm linking here to new research from the World Bank on the impact of privatisation as a development strategy. Good enrichment material for students looking at different approaches to development.

"Private ownership alone is no longer argued to automatically generate economic gains in developing economies; pre-conditions (especially the regulatory infrastructure) and an appropriate process of privatization are important for attaining a positive impact."
