Lord Hutton writes here a persuasive articleLord Hutton writes here a persuasive article on the need for a nuclear core capacity at the heart of Britain's energy network as a way of providing reliable, low carbon, relatively cheap power. I'll need to check him out on the Register of Members' Interests to see if he's a non-executive director or anyone related to the nuclear sector, however, the points he makes are valid and in tune with what Dieter Helm argues in "Carbon Crunch": nuclear is a good stop-gap in the absence of genuinely viable renewables capable of producing power on the same scale.
