Is the global fossil fuel industry on the brink of collapse?

The Guardian carries a story that suggests that the market for fossil fuels could collapse, based on a report by financial think-tank Carbon Tracker.
The author of the report, Kingsmill Bond, the only secret agent named after a loaf of bread, suggests that there's going to be a 2% fall in demand for these fuels, year-on-year, and eventually the demise of the sector.
