Uber changing app to avoid reach of California's new gig workers law

In this case it is lift hailing company, Uber, who have recently altered several features of their app to "give drivers more freedom" according to them. Critics, however, argue that the new features are designed to help the company avoid a change in labour laws applying to the gig economy, and do little to enhance the status, or pay, of their drivers.
