So which of these has been of greatest value to the Google empire? And which had the most damaging effect on shareholder value?

My instinct is to say You Tube - snapped up for just $1.6 billion.

But this infographic from Statista reminds us of the external growth strategy that Google has shown little reluctance in slowing down.
