Meet the CPI Foot Soldiers

With CPI inflation climbing to 1.8% in January, the highest since June 2014, this is a timely and excellent Katie Allen piece looking at the simple mechanics behind inflation figures, highlighting how the data is collected across the UK.
As she notes: "This week’s number, as in every month, will be based in part on 100,000 prices for about 520 items harvested by price collectors in 150 places."
