Developing wider skills - getting to know your community

Many teenagers are engaged in online communities through social media, and we certainly hear mutterings in the press about lack of social engagement from young people. Engaging with the community is really important for young people - it can help them to find relevant role models, develop communication and caring skills, and help them to understand their place in society. Here are some suggestions about how to encourage students to participate in and engage more fully with the community.

Ruth has been Subject Lead in Economics at tutor2u for many years after a career of teaching Economics, Business, Politics and Maths in a range of secondary schools. She is a highly experienced A level Economics Examiner, and also teaches undergraduate Economics on a very part-time basis at the University of Oxford.
