The Cost of Childcare: Is It Worth It?

17th October 2022
For many parents the cost of nursery fees could end up costing as much as 71% of their wages.
This Guardian article supports this claim and suggests that those living in the East of England are paying the highest percentage of their wages towards childcare.
Research by workingmum.com suggests that the cost of childcare has impacted mainly on women. It is women who have been tasked with difficult choices, such as reducing to part-time hours, increasing their hours, getting an additional job, etc.
