The British Census
18th February 2020
This story was flagged on our Facebook page last week about the household census.
The census is taken every 10 years and records a number of areas of life within British society from the number of people living in a household, religion to approximate salaries.
Households are required by law to complete the census, although this falls to a 80% completion rate in some areas of the country. The 2021 Census is expected to cost nearly £1bn, therefore the government is proposing alternative ways of collecting the data such as as through council tax records and driving licenses.
This article would be useful for Research Methods (quantitative and qualitative data, official statistics) and Families and Households (demographic changes).
