The Office of National Statistics reported in September that, in England and Wales in 2017, 8.4% of 1,000 opposite sex couples got divorced. On the other hand, divorce rates for same-sex couples appears to be increasing. Students could be asked to read this article and consider the reasons for this.

The article could be used within the Families and Households unit.
