Social Darwinism

Social Darwinism is an adaptation of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, used by late 19th century social theorists, such as Hebert Spencer, to justify extreme laissez-faire capitalism and inequality in society on the grounds that free competition and natural selection ensured the ‘survival of the fittest’.
