How significant are the conventions of collective and individual ministerial responsibility today?
Collective responsibility can be regarded as one of the cornerstones of cabinet government in the UK. The convention states that any member of the government (so this extends to junior ministers as well as those within cabinet) must publicly support and promote government policy.
