The news that the Labour Party has set out 170 Brexit-related questions to the government in order to scrutinise the Brexit process is a great starting point for teaching the Parliament topic. I suggest printing the article, or sections of it, in the middle of a sheet of A3 paper, and asking students to identify and explain the following terms:
- Parliament
- Government
- Opposition
- Scrutiny
- Shadow Minister
- Minister
- Elective Dictatorship
- Parliamentary Debate
- Transparency
- Motion
- Backbencher
