Once suitable resource deposits have been identified through exploration, a combination of governments and companies will look to exploit the resource, which means to get it out of the ground and then processed for sale.

This requires careful planning in terms of putting into place the technology and equipment required to extract the resource, the logistics of getting the extracted commodity to processing and then to market.

It also requires a business plan covering the necessary investment to pay for the extraction and processing, alongside selling the resource for the best price.
