A report written by the UN states that a million plant and animal species are now at risk of extinction.

Whilst humans have always had an impact on the environment, the changes since the 1970s have caused significant problems. With a growing population demanding resources and an ever globalising world, the threats to ecosystems has intensified. This has led to many species now being on the brink of extinction.
