Pressure on the shipping industry to cut emissions

Containerisation and huge freight ships are two of the defining characteristics of globalisation. But the scale of greenhouse gas emissions from global shipping is vast and the industry is coming under increasing pressure to change their ways. If the global shipping industry was a country, it would rank as the sixth largest emitter on the planet.
