Post Crash Economics - Pressure for Degree Economics to Change

Geoff Riley

24th October 2013

I am attending a panel event at the Treasury in the middle of next month which seeks to carry the debate forward about re-shaping and re-calibrating the economics taught at undergraduate level. It should be a fascinating event and one with importance for those of us who teach the subject with sixth form students and for whom the existing specifications are insufficient and inflexible in the current context.
The Guardian today ran a story on launch of a Post Crash Economics Society at Manchester University - read the article here. They were visited a few days ago by high profile economist Ha Joon Chang who is a guest on our own panel event at school on the 21st November when he shares a platform with Paul Ormerod. I know that the event is already sold out with more than 500 students coming along. But we will post reports and reviews of the panel conference a few days later. The student organizer Anthony Beaumont has created a Scoop. It board for the event and this can be accessed here.
