This Guardian article offers a broad overview of how the new Prime Minister is likely to respond to the ongoing energy crisis. It touches upon tax cuts, extending the existing support package and other measures which are intended to lower the cost of energy.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation's Minimum Income Standard survey has revealed that many people are going to experience extreme hardship in the months ahead as falling real incomes mean a squeeze on spending. According to the JRF "There is a growing gap between what people have compared to what the public say they need to meet a decent standard of living."
