Covid-19 speeds up the decline of cash

An increasing number of businesses are turning cashless as a result of the pandemic and the closure of many local bank branches.
Consumer groups, such as Which?, are concerned that Covid-19 is speeding up the decline of cash. A Which? survey suggests that there are over 10 million UK consumers, mostly made up of elderly and vulnerable individuals, who rely on cash to go about their daily lives.
