Sources of Finance: Sale of Assets | JD Sports Sells 15 Brands to Competitor
18th December 2022
A good example here of how significant cash can be raise from the sale of assets.
In this case the "assets" being sold are brands.
15 of them, to be precise. As the Guardian reports here, JD Sports plc will receive £47.5m from sale of 15 brands to rival retailer Frasers Group.
The portfolio of brands includes Pretty Green - which was set up by former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. JD Sports had bought this loss-making brand back in 2019 and it looks like it wasn't able to turn its fortunes around.
The decision to sell these brands follows a "strategic review" led by JD Sports chief executive, Régis Schultz.
