How Fit is the Fitness Industry?
29th January 2017
This short two-minute video from The Economist would make a great lesson starter to introduce students to some key data on the fast-growing global fitness industry.
Pick out some of the key data and consider the implications.
For example, the proportion of adults who are members of a health & fitness club is now 1 in 7 (the so-called "participation rate").
However, in the US that proportion is 1 in 5. Does that suggest there is plenty of scope for the UK market to grow further by encouraging a higher percentage of adults to become members?
